Clacton Airfield Information

With the airfield established since the 1960s, Clacton Aero Club formally opened in 1988 and has been operating as flight school ever since.
Offering both trial lessons and PPL, Clacton is a great place to take a flight, and earn your license.
Located next to the town it is also very accessible providing flight training to both locals and people from around the country.

The airfield sports a grass runway which is kept in excellent condition.

We have an unrestricted airspace and offer low traffic meaning there’s never waiting at the hold.

Airfield is strictly PPR by telephone 01255 424 671 during operating hours.

Non-radio aircraft accepted. Airfield unavailable to Helicopters and Microlights.

The Airfield is located just on the outskirts of Clacton-on-Sea along West Road, postcode is CO15 1AG.
There is a train station in the town which is within walking distance of the airfield.
There are also plenty of taxis available.

For driving it is recommended to use St John’s Road, followed by Jaywick Lane to avoid traffic driving through the town.

Airfield Facilities

On site self-service tea and coffee with seating areas both inside and outside. Car park on site and short walk to both Clacton town and beach. Plenty of cafes and restaurants in town.

The Hangar on site is available for aircraft maintenance but must be booked in advance. See our Maintenance section.

Accommodation on site not offered but plenty of places to stay locally in Clacton including a Premier Inn.
